A video, apparently posted by a driver in Tampa, is getting international attention for showing what some are calling "instant karma" -- a tailgating driver who crashes moments after making a rude gesture.
An anonymous YouTube uploader published the video yesterday along with a detailed account of the encounter, which happened along U.S. Highway 41 on Monday.
The footage shows a pickup truck tailgating a slower female driver, then pull alongside long enough for the driver -- identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as Jeffrey Travis White -- to give her the finger.
"I couldn't move over because there were trucks in the right lane, and I sure as heck wasn't going to speed on a rainy day with the roads being as slick as they were," the post explains.
Moments after speeding past her, the truck spins around and veers into the oncoming lanes and takes out a pole with a crash that's very audible on the video.
"That's what you get!" the laughing female driver shouts as she passes the wreck.
According to the post, the pickup's driver fled from the scene but was later caught. The FHP report confirmed that White, 33, was later arrested at his house on Snook Drive.
White was jailed on charges of leaving the scene of a traffic crash, careless driving, and failing to wear his seatbelt before bonding out today. He has several previous arrests in Hillsborough County, records show.
The video, meanwhile, had picked up hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube in just a few hours Thursday, with some viewers apparently agreeing with comments offered by the video author:
"This moron could have easily killed somebody with his moronic behavior, and my laughing at the end would have been replaced with tears. Needless to say though, I've never seen Karma come back so fast."
