Jennifer Lopez Outbids Diddy to Buy Television Network
Building a television empire has turned into a battle of the exes for Jennifer Lopez and Diddy.
The former lovers, who both launched their own TV networks last year (Lopez has Latin American-focused NuvoTV while Diddy has been promoting his youth-oriented channel, Revolt), were in a heated war to purchase New York-based channel Fuse Network. The channel, with its 73 million built-in viewers, would give a significant boost to either NuvoTV or Revolt in terms of the number of households they could reach.
The win for this particular battle goes to Lopez, who outbid her ex for a stake in Fuse. While it hasn't been disclosed how much Lopez and her team paid for Fuse, it's clearly more than the $200 million Diddy offered.
“Music is my first love so the acquisition of Fuse is near and dear to my heart,” Lopez said in the statement. “It’s exciting that between NuvoTV and Fuse we’ll have the ability to deliver a broad array of terrific content both from a Latino perspective and across multiple genres, including music, to a broader audience.”
