Real Time With Bill Maher welcomed Nas as a guest panelist Friday (April 5) to talk "impoverished neighborhoods" and NFL player DeSean Jackson.
The Queens MC is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Illmatic and discussed how impoverished neighborhoods have changed since his 1994 debut.
"It's changed but not for the better," he said, noting the "influx of guns" as the reason why conditions are "worse than it was in '94."
Regarding Jackson (who was dropped from the Eagles allegedly over his ties to gang members and for throwing up gang signs on Instagram), Nas questioned the team's motive. "I just want to know who is the gang-signologist in the NFL," he wondered. "I didn't know they had Crips or Bloods on payroll to determine what signs were."
He added that the Eagles gave wide receiver Riley Cooper "a pass for saying n----r" and therefore shouldn't have targeted Jackson.
Nas' appearance on Maher's show was one of many promotional stops the 40-year-old has made lately, including a performance at the Kennedy Center earlier in the month.
In celebration of his inaugural LP, Nas will drop a special edition album, titled Illmatic XX, April 15.
