Seattle Symphony Teams With Sir Mix-A-Lot On 'Baby Got Back'

The 1992 butt-shaking anthem "Baby Got Back" got an unlikely orchestral remix in a recent performance from the Seattle Symphony, with Sir Mix-A-Lot himself leading an audience dance-along at Benaroya Hall.

A video of the concert, featuring conductor Ludovic Morlot and members of the orchestra, shows the pop star inviting audience members mostly female to dance on stage and shake their rear-ends.

The performance was part of the orchestra's ongoing series Sonic Evolution, which bridges the classical and pop music worlds.

The version of "Baby Got Back" heard in the video was orchestrated by composer Gabriel Prokofiev, who is the grandson of the renowned Russian composer Sergei Prokofiev

Morlot is the Seattle Symphony's music director and has long embraced new music and innovations within the classical repertoire.
