Editor Nissim Ben Haim tells the Associated Press that Kardashian is a “pornographic symbol” who goes against traditional ultra-Orthodox values.
An ultra-orthodox Jewish news site photoshopped Kim Kardashian out of two photos recently taken in Israel.
Kardashian, Kanye West, their daughter, and Khloe Kardashian traveled to the country on Monday, where they had North baptized in an Armenian church.
After the ceremony, Kardashian and West shared a meal with Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat, after which pictures emerged showing the group dining together.
But when the website Kikar HaShabbat posted the pictures, one was photoshopped to show an enlarged receipt completely covering Kardashian.
In a second photo, the reality star is entirely blurred. West, however, remained visible, sitting next the to mayor.
The site’s article also doesn’t refer to Kardashian by name, but instead says “West and his wife.”
The piece also criticized the mayor for hosting the couple in the holy city, which has a large Jewish population, but not at a Kosher restaurant.
Sources, however, told the outlet that Barkat didn't actually eat the non-Kosher food.
So, why was Kardashian not shown in the two pictures?
For starters, ultra-Orthodox news media often do not feature women, but the site had a more damning reason for choosing to exclude the star.
