Sean “Diddy” Combs’ new ad for his fragrance, 3AM by Sean John, was too provocative for execs at Macy’s, according to Page Six.
The perfume launch was almost delayed when the hip-hop mogul was told to re-edit his commercial several times to tone down the explicit scenes with his girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
In the steamy commercial shot in LA, directed by Nabil Elderkin, Combs, 45, and Cassie, 28, take viewers behind closed doors.
The provocative scenes included nudity, simulated sex and at least one nipple ring, fight (Cassie slaps him and he chokes her), and make more love. Cassie lies naked in bed, while her man thrusts between her spread legs.
We hear cops even came in to break up the shoot.
“The concept for the video represents one of the things that 3 a.m. is for me,” Diddy told Style.com. “It’s a very one-on-one time. It’s a time to have fun and push the envelope a little bit. It’s definitely an hour where you would find yourself with a young lady. Anything can happen at 3 a.m., and in the video, you see a fantasy that’s in my head of what happened that night.”
But thanks to the Internet, you can watch the banned version above.
Diddy told Ellen DeGeneres last week that another woman was originally cast as Combs’ leading lady in the ad, but the chemistry wasn't there. wasn't as natural,” he explained.
“This is what 3AM looks like in Diddy’s world,” reads the video caption.
